Italian-run boutique hotel with excellent food
In Playas del Coco, Hotel Puerta del Sol is in town but far enough off the main drag to be quiet.
This mid-range Italian-run boutique hotel is charming, and some of the best food in town can be had at its alfresco Restaurant Sol y Luna--excellent pasta, fish, and meat, plus a good wine list and a dozen kinds of beer.
Rooms have air-conditioning, cable TV, good reading lamps, and big, comfortable beds. There’s a small pool but most people head for the beach, a five-minute walk.
From the main drag, just west of Hotel Coco Verde, take a right. Go about 200 meters (two blocks), take another right, then go about 100 meters (one block). It's on the left.
